Local Golf Report: Floren nabs an ace at Prairie Farms

The golf season certainly kicked into high gear this past week. That's because the first hole-in-one of the spring has now been recorded.

On Wednesday night, during men's league at Prairie Farms, Havre's Ric Floren recorded an ace on the par-3 4th hole. Floren made the shot with a 9-iron from 138 yards out. The shot was witnessed by Cal Wirtzberger, Frank Peterson, Kerry Ward and Rachelle Bennett. It was Floren's second career hole-in-one at Prairie Farms.

On Wednesday night, Master Sports was high team with 23 points. The team was made up of Jim Kirkpatrick, Barry Kato, Mark Kato and Doug Sheppard. Jim Kato fired a stellar 3-under 33 to earn low gross, while Floren was low net with a 28.

Women's league officially kicks off this Thursday night at Prairie Farms, so we'll begin having those results in next week's column.

We are also looking for weekly results from leagues at Beaver Creek Golf Course and the Chinook Golf Club as well as weekly standings in all local golf leagues. Anyone wishing to get their golf information in the column should also e-mail George Ferguson at [email protected].
