Museum colleagues: Welcome to Havre, it's a great place

It is with great pride to welcome my fellow museum colleagues, their families and friends to my hometown of Havre, attending the Museums Association of Montana annual conference March 21-23.

I hope you find your stay in Montana's north star a welcoming and delightful experience.

Hill County and its seat, Havre, have a long and rich history many people cherish and honor. From paleontology, archaeology and native tribes, to Fort Assinniboine, the arrival of the railroad, ranchers and homesteaders, you will find many places whose volunteers and employees have dedicated their lives to interpret and share with you.

Havre Beneath the Streets, Wahkpa Chu'gn Buffalo Jump, the H. Earl Clack Museum, the Native American artifacts at Montana State University-Northern, the High Line Heritage House Museum and Historic Strolls, the Rudyard Depot Museum and Vintage Automobile Museum and the Rocky Boy Powwow all offer unique exhibits, history and culture that showcase our diverse heritage.

We have a lot more to offer here in beautiful Hill County, including Beaver Creek Park — the largest county-owned park in the United States, Bear Paw Ski Bowl, a hockey facility second to none, Montana State University-Northern, sculptures and public art throughout town, and Fresno Reservoir just to name a few.

Neighboring Blaine, Liberty and Chouteau counties offer even more to see and enjoy.

We have a lot to show off here, so please come back so you can partake in activities you missed during your short time in our wonderful part of Montana.
