Skylights ink standout new middle blocker

The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team graduated some key players off of the 2012 team, a team which came within two points of reaching the NAIA national tournament.

However, Northern head coach Bill Huebsch recently announced a new addition to the Skylights' roster with the singing of 6-2 middle blocker Annie Ferris. She comes to Northern from Pierce College in Washington. Ferris was born in Anchorage, AK, but she was raised all over the world, previously living in: Alaska, North Carolina, Japan, Hawaii, England, and Washington.

Ferris said she is very excited to attend MSU-N. Due to the amazing hospitality shown her during her campus visit she immediately fell in love with the people of the community. Coach Bill (Huebsch) and the girls on the team really made her feel like she was a part of their family. "I love the positive atmosphere and all the people at MSU-N are so fun and friendly. I feel like it's the perfect fit for me."

Ferris

At Pierce, Ferris was the starting middle for both years. She was recently awarded Athlete of the Month at Pierce, and made 2nd team All-League, as well as starting in the middle during the NWAACC All-star Game held in Portland, Ore. Throughout Ferris' volleyball career she has been awarded many accolades which include, multiple coaches awards, several most inspirational player awards, and team Most Valuable Player awards. While in high school she was awarded the "People's Choice" award and made the Presidents list as a result of her academic success. Ferris has also been a standout competitive swimmer, an avid weight lifter and she has a black belt in the art of Tae Kwon Do.

Ferris will look to earn her degree in Community and Leadership with a minor in Counseling. With her love of people and the motivation to help and guide others she would like to pursue a career in counseling. She is the daughter of Chris and Deanna Ferris. Her sister Jenna will also attend Northern starting in the fall.
