Gordon Denny
Gordon Denny, (Buffalo Child, paskww-mostos awsis), 43, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandparent, friend and member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe, passed away on Jan. 7, 2013, in Lindsay, Okla., after a lengthy battle with cancer. Wake services are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12 and 13, 2013, at Rocky Boy Lutheran Church, with funeral services before noon on Monday, Jan. 14, with Father Pete Guthneck officiating. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Gordon was welcomed into the world on Aug. 14, 1969, to Larry "Spud" Denny Sr. and the late Ethel Harriett St. Pierre Denny of Rocky Boy, Mont. He was named after his uncle, Gordon George "Snuffy" Denny.
Gordon loved life and lived it to the fullest. He also loved his children, family, and his friends. Gordon could lighten up a room with his humor, charisma and was able to befriend all who he met. He was very sociable, kind, and friendly. He enjoyed fixing and customizing cars, music, and entertaining friends and family. Gordon was very protective over his siblings and would take the shirt off his back for another person whether he knew them or not. He was not afraid to seek out new endeavors. He was definitely the "Risk Taker" in the family, and lived for the moment. He was dubbed the nickname "Cheech" by many who knew and loved him. He always thought of his children and the moments he had with them and were forever treasured.
Gordon had worked many jobs and was a "Jack of all trades (Master Of None.)" Some of those jobs included: carpentry, firefighting, welding, asbestos removal and remediation and his mechanical skills were nothing short of amazing.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Carpenter-Denny of Shawnee, Okla; his father, Larry "Spud" Denny Sr., and step-mother, Margaret Bernard; sons, Keenan Meyers of Rocky Boy, Gordon George Denny Jr., Rebel Denny, and Rowdy Denny, all of Bismarck, N.D., Zack and Jeffery Moreno of Billings, Mont., and Jeffery Frye of Shawnee, Okla. ; daughters, Laurna Chief Goes Out, Shawn Denny, Lisa Marie Swan, and Rylee Sutherland, all of Rocky Boy; brothers, Michael (Jodi) Seaton, Larry Denny Jr., Mark Denny, Pennsylvania, Waylon (Toni) Denny of Phoenix, Ariz. and Tristan Bernard all of Rocky Boy; sisters, Melody (Harry) Whitford and Misty Brooks Denny, both of Rocky Boy.
Gordon is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and a beautiful granddaughter Aaliyah, who he was very proud of and anxiously awaiting to meet; as well as a newborn niece, Ava Marie Presley Small.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Harriett St. Pierre Denny; infant daughter, Shelby Denny; special godchild, James Sangrey; a nephew, Mark "Snowball" Denny; grandmothers, Katherine Denny-Hines, Rose Mary Bernard, and Margaret St. Pierre; grandfathers, Walter "Moose" Denny, George Denny, Victor LaMere, and Albert St. Pierre Sr., all of Rocky Boy. as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
