Local Bowling Report: Family Doubles tourney on tap at Hi Line Lanes

The Family Doubles Tournament Qualifying will be this weekend. Anyone interested call Hi Line Lanes to set up a spot. The tournament consists of local qualifying. Bowlers must roll a score of 1,200 or better to advance to the regional in Billings on Jan. 26-27. A team consists of a parent and child. If bowlers do well they advance to the state finals, then on to the National tournament where in 2012 $70,000.in scholarships were awarded.

Those interested in the Pepsi Tournament this season, please contact Ken at the lanes. There have been massive changes in the format. Qualifying will be from Jan. 11-24. All divisions will be scratch this year.

TOURNEY TRAIL: This upcoming weekend is the 30th Annual Miller Masters Tournament at Sleeping Giant Lanes in Helena. Bowlers will bowl a 6-game qualifying on Saturday with the top 32 advancing to match play on Sunday. Entry fee is $165. Call 406-442-1004 for reservations.

PBA: Everyone remembers Tom Dougherty who two years bowled the all time low game of 100 on TV against Mike Kuvemini; rolled through the field on the Scorpion Pattern to capture the title. He defeated Jason Stoner in the first match 199 – 177; then topped Jason Belmonte 256 to 197; the oout lasted Osku Palermaa 200 to 182 for the championship.

We are still in needs of a couple of teams on the Monday Night Jr./Adult short season league. Anyone can bowl in this Junior league, ages 8 on up. Call the lanes.

We are also in need of four dart players to play online in a handicap league in the state of Montana on Monday night at 6:30. It is totally online so you never leave the lanes to play every week.
