Thanks for support of Centennial effort

Editor:

The Hill County centennial is now history, and it was my pleasure to submit the series of articles commemorating that important once-in-a-lifetime milestone. So many people stopped me on the street and in the grocery store, called me at home or wrote me a letter to express their gratitude regarding those articles, and I appreciate every one of them.

John Kelleher, editor of the newspaper, has graciously and enthusiastically agreed to publish articles submitted to celebrate another milestone. Havre's 120th anniversary is this year, so once a week an article will be in the Havre Daily News, as well as, perhaps, an advertisement or photograph to go with the article.

Since the microfilm of Havre's newspapers does not start until June 27, 1893, we will start this series of articles when Havre was five years old, and proceed in five-year increments until 1993, Havre's centennial year. Then, the articles will start again in 1898, and go in five year increments until the weeks match the week of June 27. As for the Hill County centennial articles, a book is in the works that will contain all of the submitted articles, bonus articles, follow-up research, the Old Ads of the Week, photographs, and some events that took place for our centennial year. It is hoped the book will be ready in time for Christmas 2013.

Thank you all for your kind comments and generous support

Emily Mayer
