Nick Rhines, Havre High Swimming

Havre High senior Nick Rhines wrapped up his final season of swimming in a fast fashion. At the Feb. 8-9 All-Class state swimming championships in Hardin, Rhines scored big points for the Havre High boys. The Ponies finished second in the Class A standings and 12th overall with 26 points, while Rhines qualified for the super-

competitive 100-meter freestyle finals. Rhines wound up 11th overall in the 100 free, while also swimming on all three of HHS's relay teams. Rhines is also a standout in tennis for the Blue Ponies.

Brittnee Theel, Chester/J-I Girls Basketball

The Chester/J-I girls basketball team made a great run at last month's Northern C girls divisional tournament in Great Falls. After losing in the first round, the Hawks rallied to come within one win of reaching the state tournament, and they played in three straight overtime games. And in one of them, senior Brittnee Theel knocked in a shot at the buzzer to send C/J-I on to the next round. Theel wound up averaging 10 points and five rebounds over C/J-I's march through the tournament, helping the Hawks to 22-4 season record.
