Why I Relay for north-central Montana Relay

Editor:

My name is Bonnie Jane Bennett, from Havre, Montana.

I have lived in Havre all of my life. I am walking in north-central Montana's Relay For Life event. Last year I raised more than $1,000, making me a Grand Club Member.

I am the team captain for the American Legion Liberty Belles team again this year. I will be out as I can collecting pledges for an all-night walk in honor and memory of my mom and dad., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bennett, who passed in the mid-'80s.

Cancer was one of the ailments along with others that took my parents.

I Relay in honor and memory of my parents each year, selling luminaria bags, helping collect Survivor Forms to give to Sue Swan, and raising money to support Relay For Life, an "all night walk" that will be on July 12 this year starting at 5 p.m. at Havre High School practice track.

Make sure to register if you are a survivor as you will receive a free T-shirt the night of the event for our Survivor Celebration.

Also, if you are a caregiver you can purchase a Caregiver T-shirt for $10. If you are not a survivor, but the cause is close to your heart, you can join a team and raise just $100 and receive a participation shirt and have the opportunity to partake in several fun activities throughout the evening.

I will be out and about as I can, soon, working on raising my funds for the 2013 event. You can order luminaria bags for $10 each or 3 for $25 in honor or memory of a loved one. This is my Mother's and Father's Day memorials to my parents. I hope to see you soon.

God bless you all who help me raise my part for the walk each year,

My name is Bonnie Bennett, and I am making hope happen.
