Devon closes public side of Daines Havre Havre meeting

Due to an apparent glitch in planning or communication, a public appearance today in Havre by the newest member of Montana's congressional delegation has been canceled.

U.S. Rep. Steve Daines, R-Mont., had been scheduled to make a public appearance at Devon Energy in Havre today while travelling from Glasgow to Choteau on his Natural Resources Tour of the state, but his press secretary told the Havre Daily News Tuesday that the public appearance had been canceled.

Daines was scheduled to meet with representatives of NorVal Electric Cooperative Inc. in Glasgow at 7 this morning to discuss the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline, planned to run through Montana from Alberta en route to the Gulf Coas, still awaiting approval from President Barack Obama.

At 2:30 this afternoon,

he is scheduled to hold a listening session in Choteau to hear concerns and ideas about management of the Rocky Mountain Front, including comments on the Rocky Mountain Front Heritage Act sponsored by U.S. Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont.

His tour, which started March 26 in Billings and at the Stillwater palladium mine, is scheduled to move to Livingston Thursday to tour a lumber mill and wrap up Friday in Billings.
