Havre is a great place for a lot of reasons. However, this holiday season was proof, once again, that this city has a deep and robust arts community that adds significantly to the livability of this special place. The performances I attended weren't run-of-the-mill events by uninterested people going through the motions until the curtain dropped. While I realize I experienced only a small sampling of the talent on display this Christmastime, what I saw was superb.
From the newly formed Havre Community Orchestra to the Havre Middle School band and choir performances to the Havre High School choir concert to an outstanding performance by the Montana Actors' Theatre of "It's A Wonderful Life," I was once again amazed at the rich homegrown talent we have in northern Montana and the incredible willingness of our neighbors to share their artistic gifts with all of us.
It is also heartening to witness the strong level of support that exists by area residents willing to attend performances and contribute financially to assure the continued viability of the Hi-Line's artistic endeavors.
We have many blessings to be thankful for this time of year. A thriving, quality arts community is one of them.
