Cora 'Alfreda' Patera
Cora "Alfreda" Patera, 87, of Havre, passed away at her residence, on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, of natural causes.
Alfreda was born Nov. 16, 1924, to Walter and Carrie (Allderdice) Rice in Big Sandy, Mont. Following her attendance at Rice School and graduation from Big Sandy High School, Alfreda married Miloslof "Milo" Patera in Havre in 1946, and their union was blessed with five children. She worked in the F. A. Buttrey Warehouse and as a ward clerk at the Havre hospital. Alfreda enjoyed crocheting mittens, quilting, camping, puzzles, playing Scrabble, family dinners, spending time with her family, canning, gardening and giving people a laugh. She was a member of the Foot Clinics, a Senior Center volunteer, a member of the Methodist Church Circle Ling Lewis Kraut and a Girl and Boy Scout leader.
Mrs. Patera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milo; two sisters, Florence and Anna; three brothers, Fred, Alfred and Howard; and her grandson, Jacob.
She is survived by her daughters, Barb (Mitch) Henderson of Havre, and Kari (George) Bick of Washington; her sons, Matt (Craig Waterbury) Patera of Washington, Art Patera of Havre and Tim (Mona) Patera of Helena; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Stella (George) Lamb of Malta/Saco and Betty (Clee) Cassairt of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; and her brother, George (Helen) Rice of Big Sandy.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 3 p. m. at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Hill County Library, the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church, the Hill County Senior Center or the charity of the donor's choice. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
