Dorothy Ann Langel was born Jan. 20, 1945, to Arnold and Helen (McCann) Langel in Havre, living most of her life on the farm at Goldstone north of Rudyard until she moved with her mother to the Liberty County Nursing Facility in Chester.
Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, Dorothy peacefully passed away. She enjoyed a long, stress-free life and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at 11 a. m. at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chester. A reception will follow at the church, and graveside services will be held at 1:30 p. m. at Rudyard Cemetery.
Dorothy enjoyed a variety of activities despite the amputation of her left arm in a farming accident at the age of nine. She enjoyed embroidery, playing Kings-in-the-Corner, puzzles, swimming, keeping track of the family statistics, and especially loved babies and cats. Dorothy excelled at bowling and won many ribbons in junior bowling and at the Special Olympics.
Everyone she met she called friend and as she often said, "they're related to me, " and most often she was right.
She was a life-long member of the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Goldstone. Bible stories were her favorite readings.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Duaine, Arnold and Gerald, and sister Lillian Frank.
Surviving Dorothy are sisters Lucille Miller of Salem, Ore., Audrey (Lloyd) Kaercher of Havre, Katherine Brandt, Rudyard, and brothers Richard (Alberta) Langel of Billings and Stanley (Willie) Langel of Rudyard; sisters-in-law Ruby of Missoula and Joann of Havre; one aunt, Lorna McCann; and numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins.
