The Havre Ice Hawks found some much-needed success on the ice this weekend. And they did it on the road.
Saturday and Sunday, the Ice Hawks were in Miles City to face the combined squad of Miles City/Glasgow and the Ice Hawks won both games.
On Saturday, the Ice Hawks won 7-3 as the Havre offense put plenty of pressure on with 48 shots in the game.
Havre's Dustin Armstrong scored a power play goal at the 6:42 mark of the first period, part of a three-goal barrage in the closing minutes by Havre. Chase Rolf also scored on minute later and Kyle Konesky put one in with :24 left in the period. Dane Linquist assisted in the third goal.
Ned Malone then found the net in the second on an assist by Armstrong before Havre added three insurance goals in the third. Alex Hanson scored on an assist by Armstrong, Timmy Welch added a goal with 2:06 left and Welch then assisted Ethan Hettinger on the final score.
In goal, Joey DeVries stopped 23 Miles City shots.
Havre came back and was again impressive on Sunday as the Ice Hawks won 4-2.
DeVries was stellar again, stopping 15 of 17 Miles City shots.
On offense, the Ice Hawks scored a goal by Rolf and assist by Konesky with 12:47 left in the second period.
Havre then exploded for three goals in the third. Welch netted a goal on a Hettinger assist, then he assisted brother Nate Welch on a goal, while Hettinger added an empty-netter with :59 left.
Havre returns to the road this weekend with games against the Missoula Bruins Saturday and Sunday in Missoula.
