Legislative Referendum 119 will be on the ballot in the primary election this coming June. At least I hope it will be. This referendum asks voters to decide whether or not they want to elect Montana Supreme Court justices from seven separate districts.
How often have you felt that you do not know the candidates for Supreme Court justice well enough to cast an informed vote? The trial lawyers want to keep it that way. They are trying to remove LR 119 from the ballot in June.
If Montana were divided into seven Supreme Court districts there would be a much better chance to get to know these individuals before casting your vote for this extremely important position.
Let the people and not the trial lawyers decide if they want this change so they are able to cast more informed votes for Supreme Court justices. Leave LR 119 on the primary ballot.
