Louise F. Bauer

Louise F. Bauer, 91, formerly of Havre, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Hearthstone Manor in Woodstock, Ill., of natural causes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a. m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, with Father Daniel Wathen officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Havre Food Bank. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Louise was born on June 4, 1921, on a homestead north of Havre, to Theodore and Frances (Vollmer) Pruys. She attended school in Cottonwood and Havre, graduated from Havre High School and earned a teaching certificate at Northern Montana College. She taught in several country schools, including Tiger Butte, Nashua, Whitefish and the Devlin school in Havre. In 1950, Louise married George Bauer in Havre, and their union was blessed with six sons. She was a great mother, devoting her time to her family, and will always be remembered for her bread and pies. She cared for her mother when she was stricken with cancer, her father when he was crippled by arthritis, and her husband George after he developed Alzheimer's. After George passed away, she enjoyed taking long walks with her dog, reading, letter writing, sewing and baking. Louise was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Retired Teachers Association, and taught Sunday School at St. Jude's for 20 years.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, George Bauer; her parents; her sisters, Anne Driscoll and Marie Mahoney; and her brother, William Pruys.

She is survived by her six sons, Joseph (Elena) Bauer of Fort Wayne, Ind., James (Trish) Bauer of Havre, Jerome Bauer of St. Louis, Mo., John (Marianne) Bauer of Woodstock, Ill., David (Karen) Bauer of Ridge Farm, Ill., and Daniel Bauer of San Antonio, Texas; and her grandson, John George Bauer-Buis, also of Woodstock, Ill.
