Betty Haaland, 86, of Big Sandy, passed way on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at her residence of natural causes.
Wake services will begin at 2 p. m. on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, with funeral services being held at 11 a. m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy. Burial will be in Rocky Boy Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.
Betty was born on Dec. 10, 1925, in Lynn, Mass., to Theodore and Helen (White) Densmore. She was raised in Maine. After high school graduation, she attended two years of college before marrying Joe St. Pierre in Rhode Island in 1946. Joe was in the U. S. Navy, so for the next several years the family moved often. In 1962, the Joe left the Navy, and the couple made their home in Rocky Boy, where Joe worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. In 1966, Joe was transferred to Crow Agency in Montana, where the couple made their home until their divorce in 1973. Betty worked in the U. S. Post Office in Crow Agency for a few years, until she married Ron Haaland in 1974, and the couple moved home to Rocky Boy. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, flower gardening, and reading, but she loved spending time with her family. They were her life.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara Jean Newhouser; and her two brothers, Roger and Sonny Densmore.
She is survived by her three sons, Brian (Dorothy) St. Pierre of West Endfield, Maine, Tom St. Pierre and Theodore St. Pierre, both of Rocky Boy; her eight grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous beloved in-laws.
