Rocky Boy runner wins state title

He did it all season long, and he ran a great race when it mattered the most.

On Saturday, Rocky Boy's Kyle Olson captured the Class B state boys cross country championship, winning the boys race at the course on the Bill Roberts Golf Course in Helena.

Olson finished the race in a blazing 16 minutes, 12.3 seconds, defeating the field by nearly a full 30 seconds.

This season, Olson won seven different races on his way to Rocky Boy's first indivdual state championship since moving up to Class B. Olson ran for Poplar as a junior last year and finished second overall.

Olson, who also competes in track and field and basketball, helped the Stars to a solid team score.

Rocky Boy's Kyle Olson, seen here running in the 2012 Havre Invitational back in September, won the Class B boys state championship Saturday in Helena.
