Richard D. Casey
Richard "Dick" D. Casey, 88, Burlington, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, in a Minot. N.D., hospital.
Richard was born on Aug. 29, 1924, a son of Edward A. and Leona M. (Lovell) Casey in Parshall, N.D. He was raised and educated in Parshall, N.D., where he graduated from Parshall High School in 1942.
On Jan. 18, 1946, Dick enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corps. He proudly served his country, serving as a cryptographic tech. He received the World War II Victory medal and the Army of Occupation medal and was honorably discharged on March 27, 1947.
On Sept. 1, 1951, Dick was united in marriage to Rosemary Barrett in Havre, Mont. They made their home in Montana, settling in Havre, where Dick owned and operated Casey Carburetor. He retired in 1986. Rosemary passed away Dec. 24, 1993.
Dick was united in marriage on July 24, 1994, to Marie Stavros-Hovda in Parshall, N.D. They made their home in Burlington, where Dick enjoyed flying and working with aircraft.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as a 4th Degree Knight. Dick was also a member of Havre Airport Board, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks Lodge and Eagles Lodge, all of Havre. He was also a member of the St. John The Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
Richard is survived by his wife of 18 years, Marie Casey of Burlington, N.D.; children, Colleen (Dean Ross) Casey of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mary Pat (Russ) Crites of Gildford, Mont., and Tim (Lori) Casey of Helena, Mont.; five grandchildren, Rhett, Casey, Keegan, Brennan and Kaelan; one great-grandchild, Emerson; twin brother, Robert (Beverly) Casey of Missoula, Mont.; and sister, Mary Catherine Carlson of Pierce, Idaho. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Rosemary; daughter, Diane Casey; and a brother, Jack Casey.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service will be Tuesday at 7 at Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, 11 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot
Graveside Service will be Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Highland Cemetery in Havre.
