Ervin Anderson, "The Big E," 60, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in Rocky Boy of natural causes.

His wake service began Sunday afternoon at Rocky Boy Lutheran Church, with his funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, also at Rocky Boy Lutheran Church, with Roy Small and Pastor Linda officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Boy Cemetery. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Ervin was born Jan. 3, 1952, at Fort Belknap, Mont., to George and Queen Indian Anderson. He was raised and educated in Rocky Boy. He married Alice Francis, and the couple lived in Rocky Boy and raised their family. They moved to Arizona for a short time and then returned home. Ervin was employed with the Chippewa Cree Housing Authority. He enjoyed reading westerns and loved to spend time with his grandson, Alejandro "Hondro," who he jokingly called "Grandpa."

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Keith Anderson.

Ervin is survived by his wife, Alice Francis of Gallup, Ariz .; his daughter, Elizabeth "Bear" Anderson of Rocky Boy; his brother, Ronald Anderson of Rocky Boy; and sisters, Evelyn (Francis) Eagleman, Valerie (Bruce) Sunchild, Vernice Anderson, Barbara (Harlan) Anderson, Tanya (William Sr.) Anderson and Karen Anderson, all of Rocky Boy; one grandson, Alejandro; numerous nieces and nephews.
