Robert Clarence Tupper

Robert Clarence Tupper, 80, passed April 27, 2012, at the Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho, after a long progression of ALS.

Robert Tupper was born in Nez Perce, Idaho, on Feb. 18, 1932, the fourth of six children born at home. He was raised on a farm where he attended a one-room school house. The family moved to Spokane, Wash., about 1945 and he graduated there from West Valley High School.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Marjorie (Wampnar) of 61 years; son Robert of Highland Ranch, Colo. ; and daughters, Nancy Durk of Sydney, Neb., Patricia Unruh of Spokane, Wash., and Donna Peters of Sedalia, Colo. ; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; as well as his sister Mary Brady of Spokane, Wash., Ed Tupper of Coeur d'Alene and Art Tupper of Spokane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Clarence Tupper, sister Barbara Hunter, brother Bill Tupper and grandson Matheau Durk.

He served four years in the naval reserves, worked for Northern Pacific Railroad, and Burlington Northern Railway with 37 years of service. and retired at the age of 55.

His life was filled with family vacation, fishing trips, camping and hiking, plus adventures with family and friends. He filled his family with lasting memories of singing in the car, Sunday drives, water skiing and sledding in the winter. His hobby and crafts he shared with family and friends over the years. He loved playing dominoes and cards and loved the beautiful yard and gardens he helped create over the years with his wife Maggie. The memorial gathering for friends and family will be held Saturday, June 2, at 2 p. m. at Bell Tower Funeral Home in 3398 E. Jenalan Ave. in Post Falls, Idaho.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations are made in his name to the Evergreen chapter for ALS for the Washington/Idaho area.
