Louis was born July 19, 1918, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to Peter and Rosa Bernardi. The family settled in New York after arriving from Italy. He lived in Wallace for around 45 years and retired there. Louis had two daughters, Mitzi Bennett and Gina Schaff. He moved to Havre in February 2012 to be closer to his daughters.

Louis was truly the best dad in the world. He enjoyed visits from family and always called his granddaughter Jamie, "Junior," because that is what he nick-named her. While in Havre, Louis lived at the Care and Comfort Home for his last few months. The family greatly appreciates the loving care he received.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters; his brothers; and his grandson, Jesse Bennett.

Louis is survived by his daughters, Gina Schaff of Havre, Mont. and Mitzi Bennett of Fort Benton, Mont. ; four granddaughters; and 13 great-grandchildren.
