The mystery of what will replace the former Wendy's on 1st Street has been solved, 10 months after the fast food store closed.
Town Pump bought the property in October, and plans to use it in a larger project to update its gas station, like they did in Chinook last year.
"We did this so we that can remodel and upgrade the Town Pump to a modern facility, " said Maureen Kenneally, spokesperson from Town Pump's corporate office in Butte. "So what we're going to do with our current location is move the casino into what was the Wendy's. That will give us the space to do a facelift for the store and be able to provide a little more product and service. "
Wendy's has been closed since January, when Wendy's International Inc. filed a lawsuit over health code infractions and shut down the Havre restaurant, and 11 sibling restaurants across Montana, Idaho and Washington owned by Havre's BZB Enterprises. Following the lawsuit's resolution in April, seven of the restaurants were allowed to reopen under new management. Havre's was not one of them.
