HELENA (AP) — Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Tester and Republican challenger Rep. Denny Rehberg are reporting that they each raised $1.2 million in the first three months of 2012.
Tester and Rehberg are in a close race that could help decide the balance of power in the Senate, which is now narrowly controlled by the Democratic party.
The Tester campaign reported Thursday that the first-term incumbent raised $1.2 million between Jan. 1 and March 31. He has $4.28 million cash left in the bank.
Rehberg's campaign also reported raising $1.2 million for the quarter. He has $2.7 million cash on hand.
The general election is Nov. 6.
