Jean Butler
Jean Butler, 71, of Box Elder, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, of natural causes.
Jean was born in Browning, Mont., to John and Phyllis (Salois) McGillis. She was raised in the East Glacier/Summit area until she met and married Gary Walters. The couple moved to Minnesota, and their union was blessed with three children. They later divorced, and Jean moved back to Montana. On Sept. 13, 1968, she married Charles Butler, and their union was also blessed with three children. Jean was a homemaker who loved taking care of her children, grandchildren and her dogs, Picabo and Jeffy. She worked as a postal employee and served many years on the Box Elder School Board. She was a very loving and caring person and was a friend to many.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Emma Goings, Esther Houle, Darlene Big Spring, Annie Henry, Isabelle McGillis and Mary Louise McGillis; and her brother, Joe "Sonny" McGillis.
She is survived by her husband Chuck of 43 years; her daughters, Ronnie (Steve) Rohrbeck of Minnesota, Donnie Rolfing of Minnesota and Cortney (Brian) Gasvoda of Big Sandy, Mont. ; her sons, Mark (Kris) Walters of Minnesota, Nick (Tracy) Butler and A. J. Butler, all of Havre; her 12 grandchildren, Katie, Abby, Kelly, Matthew, Justin, Ashley, Rebekah, Bethany, Dusty, Xavier, Brevan and Tyrel; three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Maliah and Sam Jr. ; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 8, from 4 to 7 p. m. at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home in Havre. Cremation will follow.
