Maxine I. Catt
Maxine I. Catt, 85, lifelong resident of Havre, passed away from natural causes Saturday morning, March 3, 2012, at Northern Montana Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
Her funeral service will be 2 p. m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Messiah Lutheran Church, with Pastor Joel Skindlov officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A fellowship will be held at the church immediately after the graveside service.
Memorial contributions in Maxine's honor may be made to Bear Paw Hospice, c/o Northern Montana Hospital, P.O. Box 1231, Havre, MT 59501 or to Messiah Lutheran Church. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
Maxine was born north of Havre to Andrew and Agnes Wilson on Jan. 30, 1927. She attended Havre Public Schools. In 1943, during World War II, Maxine moved to Seattle, where she worked as a welder and waitress. There she met the love of her life, James Catt. They were married in Seattle on April 17, 1946. They returned to Havre in 1949, where they raised their family. In 1972 Maxine went to work for the Havre Public School food service. She retired in 1986 as a kitchen supervisor.
Maxine and Jim spent their retirement years holding hands and traveling to Arizona, where they made many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Erma; brothers, Bernard and Johnny Norden; sisters, Mae, Beatrice, Alice and Minnie; and her grandson, Robert James "Bobby" Vernon.
Maxine is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, James Catt Sr. of Havre; her sons, Jim (Laurie) Catt Jr. of Havre, Dennis (Pat) Edmonds of Eldridge, Wash., Allan (Lydia) Auge of Puyallup, Wash., and Larry (Pam) Auge of Scottsdale, Ariz. ; her daughters, Myrna (Robert) Vernon of Sumner, Wash., and Cindy (David) Heaney of Cheyenne, Wyo. ; two sisters, Marlene (Mike) Malone and Darlene (John) Sharp of Spokane, Wash. ; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
