Joan L. Voise

Joan L. Voise, 79, of Ryegate, broke her earthly bonds on Monday July 2, 2012. Do you hear the angels sing? The rejoicing?

Joan was the first of six children born to John M. and Lucy (Barecivic) Lawlor on July 13, 1932. She was educated in rural schools, graduating high school from Havre, Mont., and earning her teaching degree from Northern Montana College.

On Sept. 5, 1954, she married Lawrence R. Voise in Coeur D' Alene, Idaho. To this union was added a daughter, Audrey, in 1955.

Joan taught elementary school for many years. She particularly enjoyed the Chinook and Miles City school systems where she was well respected. Her students knew her as a disciplinarian who was dedicated to preparing them not just for the next grade, but for life.

In her younger years, she enjoyed singing, was a meticulous seamstress, and an avid reader always seeking new ideas. She had strong opinions and ethics and voiced them. In her retirement she participated in delivering commodities to the elderly, America Reads and other activities. The key word being ACTIVE.

Joan is survived by her husband, Lawrence; daughter, Audrey (John) Stoican and family, John L. (Kerry) Stoican and their daughters Audrey and Amber, Steve (Lindsay) Stoican; and Ace Stoican; sisters, MaryAnn McPherson and Antoinette (Roger) Wagner; and brothers, John William Lawlor and Dennis Lawlor. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery in Billings. Condolences may be sent to the family at http://www.cfgbillings.com through "Our Families."
