Delma Marie Windy Boy Meyers of Rocky Boy, Mont., died Friday, March 2, 2012, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Mont.
Her wake service began Saturday and continues through Sunday with her traditional Native American service 10 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2012, all at Rocky Boy Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Rocky Boy Cemetery. Immediately after her burial, a feast will be held at Rocky Boy Lutheran Church. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
Delma was born Jan. 10, 1953, in Fort Belknap, Mont., to Roger and Rosie Cecelia (Gopher) Windy Boy. Delmas attended schools in Rocky Boy. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, visiting friends and relatives. She worked at Rocky Boy Police Department as the first certified detention officer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Leroy Windy Boy, Arnold Windy Boy and Russell Gene Windy Boy; her sisters, Judy Windy Boy and Alma Windy Boy.
She is survived by her daughter, Justina Windy Boy; her children, Josiah, Richard, Trey and Latisha all of Rocky Boy; her sister, Wilma Windy Boy of Rocky Boy; her brothers, Andrew, Roger Jr., Ronald and Raymond Windy Boy of Rocky Boy; her grandmother, Minnie Gopher Sangrey of Rocky Boy; and her aunts, Mary Lou Bear, Pearl Whitford, Barbara and Myrtle Raining Bird and Janico Meyers, all of Rocky Boy. She is also survived by many cousins in the Windy Boy, Gophers, Raining Bird, Alexander, Small, Whitford, Favels, Oats and Sunchild families.
