Gay and Dick McLain
A celebration of Dick and Gay McLain's lives will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 2 p. m., at Highland Cemetery in Havre. Arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
Fifty-eight years of sharing hopes and living dreams together all began with a dance. This once country school teacher and Air Force sergeant became a couple that made them one with each other. From this union, Butch, Cookie and Jim were born. Even though Dick traveled as an engineer with the railroad, Gay kept the home life running smoothly. As a family, they enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and motorcycle riding. But they all enjoyed a love that continued with Dick and Gay's retirement, which was traveling.
Both were the eldest brother and sister in their families, which gave them a common ground. They both believed that family was the core of their life. No matter how many miles would come between members of this family, each and every one was in their hearts and prayers. They were always around to give hope and encouragement, lend a helping hand and forgive even when they did not understand. All members of this family have a common ground which is "family means everything no matter what. " Together as a family we can face anything.
On Sept. 7, 2010, which was Dick's 81st birthday, Gay left this world. On May 1, 2011, a broken-hearted husband joined her. A celebration of their lives will be shared with family and friends who can make it. For those who cannot come, please take a moment and remember the good times that you shared with them. The date is, once again, Sept. 7, now a significant day for this couple. Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery at 2 p. m. Following will be cake and coffee at 1326 Hoover Ave.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support provided to us, their children — Butch and Joni, Cookie and Travis, Jim and Jessica; and great-grandchildren Lucas and Brooke, and not to forget "Duke, " their loyal dog.
Edit: In an obituary for Dick and Gay McLain that ran in Wednesday's Havre Daily News, the grandchildren were inadvertently omitted, They are: Tony, the first grandchild, Shawn, Tyler, Bianna, Tanner and Brandon, the youngest.
