Are people from Havre, the nicest people on the planet?
I'll say yes, based on last weekend's trip to your great town for a midget hockey tournament.
I have three examples.
First, the members of the Havre Hockey Association treated us like family. They helped answer all our questions and provided assistance at every turn.
Secondly, the hotel staff at the Best Western bent over backwards to make our stay perfect, including providing an extra room to air out stinky hockey gear. If you have ever smelled hockey gear, you'll understand how kind that gesture is.
Finally, our team finished playing late Saturday night, and we were told that every restaurant in town was closed. Normally that means a night of hungry hockey players.
In Havre, however, the manager of McDonald's opened his business "after hours" to 18 hungry kids.
I've travelled the West following hockey teams for more than a decade and was blown away by Havre's warm heart.
