Alvin was born in Havre, Mont., on July 8, 1952. He joined his parents, Lynn George and Helen Margaret (Schend) Deppmeier; along with an older brother, Melvin Lynn; and a sister, Rose Marie. Four years later a brother, Bernard Joseph, would join the family at Fresno, Mont.
In his youth, Alvin was involved with 4-H, and had projects with cattle and woodworking. He always enjoyed working with tools and listening to country music. Often the whole family would join friends and family for great outings, either in Beaver Creek Park or at Fresno Lake.
He attended Havre schools throughout his youth and graduated from Havre High School in 1970. After graduation, he attended Northern Montana College, now Montana State University-Northern, and learned the welding trade. He worked several years in that trade around Havre in the oil and gas fields. While living at home, he spent many years crop spraying with his dad. He knew most of the farmers in the Kremlin and Havre area.
Alvin and Rachelle Zubatch were married in 1976 at Havre. From this union a son, Daniel, and a daughter, Sara, were born. When opportunity knocked, Alvin moved his family to Billings, Mont., to work with Greytek Farms. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his "old" Jeep, and he continued his farm employment up to the time where his illness prevented his involvement.
Alvin was preceded in death by his mother, Helen, in 1995.
He is survived by his father, Lynn; brothers, Melvin and Bernard; and sister, Rose Marie; his children, Daniel and Sara; wife, Rachelle; and numerous grandchildren, aunts, uncles and cousins.
