Havre Middle School seventh-grader Jerod Boles is off to Springfield, Mass., to compete in the national Elk's Hoop Shoot this weekend.
Havreites have been wishing Boles good luck throughout the week as he prepares to shoot in the national event this weekend. Boles will also participate in several events for all of the finalists, including a trip to the National Basketball Hall of Fame.
Boles qualified for the national hoop shoot by winning the regional championship last month in Rapid City, S.D. He also won the Montana state competition, the district competition in Shelby and the Havre Elk's Hoop Shoot earlier this winter in Havre.
In each contest, contestants shoot 25 free throws and through all four events, Boles has missed just six foul shots.
