Havre Daily News All Hi-Line Boys Team

It was another great season of boys basketball on the Hi-Line and the annual Havre Daily News All Hi-Line Boys Team reflects just that. Individually, there were great performances all over the area this winter.

This year's All Hi-Line Team features just four repeat performers and no players which have made the list more than twice. The team is also senior-laden with seven players who just wrapped up great careers leading the way, while only one underclassmen made the list. It's also a balanced list as no team has more than two players honored.

Anfernee Standing Rock, Havre High

One of four repeat performers on the All Hi-Line team, Blue Pony senior Anfernee Standing Rock has been a force in basketball the last two years. The 6-4 Standing Rock led the Central A and the Blue Ponies in scoring this season at 19 points per game on his way to all-conference and Class A All-State honors. Standing Rock is as versatile a player as there is, as he can shoot the perimeter shot as well as drive to the basket. He's also a tremendous defender and a tenacious rebounder and all of those factors should add up to plenty of interest from schools where he can take his game to the next level.

Lesin Oats, Rock Boy

Rocky Boy senior Lesin Oats just finished a great run with the Stars. For the past three years, Oats has been an outstanding player for head coach Tim Henry and with Oats on the floor, the Stars lost just six games in three seasons. Oats is a repeat performer on the All Hi-Line team, a two-time Class B All-State selection and in his senior year, he led the Stars in scoring, assists and steals.

Taylor Erskine, Chinook

One of Chinook's best all-around scorers in recent history, 6-4 senior Taylor Erskine makes his second appearance on the All Hi-Line team. Erskine and the rest of the Chinook seniors just wrapped up a brilliant two-year run in which they finished fourth or better at the Northern C Divisional two straight times. On his way to Class C All-State honors this season, Erskine averaged 14 points and five rebounds per game in helping the Beeters win the District 9C championship back in February.

Jordy Donoven, North Star

Just a junior, 5-11 North Star guard Jordy Donoven earned his second straight nod to the All Hi-Line Team. This past season, Donoven led a much-improved Knights' team in scoring, averaging nearly 16 points per game. Donoven is a physically gifted guard who plays much bigger than he is, as evidenced by his ability to score inside, as well as rebound. And with two great years already under his belt, Donoven should be poised for a huge senior year.

Logan Connor, Havre High

Things couldn't have gone better for Havre High junior Logan Connor this past season. In his second year of starting for the Blue Ponies, Connor had a monstrous offensive campaign. He averaged 17 points per game and shot better than 37 percent from the 3-point-line as he helped HHS to a 9-9 regular season and a second-place finish in the Central A's regular season. Connor, who is also a strong defender and an excellent free-throw shooter earned Central A First-Team All-Conference honors this season and was invited to play in the prestigious HIT this past weekend in Havre. Also under Connor, the Blue Ponies have had two straight strong seasons, and he should be one of the top players in Class A basketball heading into his senior year.

Jacob Parker, Box Elder

What a difference a year makes. Box Elder junior Jacob Parker had an immediate impact on the Bears this season, helping bring them back to relevance in the 9C. The 6-3 Parker is a skilled post player and his presence helped Box Elder make a run to the Northern C Divisional for the first time in nearly a decade. Parker averaged 15 points and eight rebounds per game for the Bears, but his defense and shot-blocking abilities make him a dominant force in Class C basketball.

Garrett Lafromboise, Rocky Boy

The Stars' Garrett Lafromboise has always had to be a role player for Rocky Boy's powerful teams the last three seasons. But this past year, it was his time to shine. The 6-5 Lafromboise averaged a double-double this season, scoring 15 points per game and grabbing a District 1B best 11 rebounds per outing. Lafromboise was an unstoppable force in the postseason too, as he averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds between the District 1B and Northern B tournaments earlier this month, earning him Class B All-State honors. in the process.

Lane Schmitt, Chinook

Chinook senior Lane Schmitt is the second Sugarbeeter to make the All Hi-Line team this year. While running the point for the 9C champion Beeters this season, Schmitt was still a deadly 3-point shooter and a top-notch defender. In three seasons of starting in the Beeter backcourt, Chinook had its best three years since dropping down to Class C, and Schmitt, a two-time Class C All-State selection was a big reason why.

Lane Harmon, Chester/J-I

It was an up-and-down season for the Chester/J-I Hawks, but not for C/J-I's Lane Harmon. The 6-4 post player led the Hawks in scoring and rebounding this season on his way to earning District 10C All-Conference honors. Harmon, who is also a standout football player for the Hawks, was also a dominant defensive player who routinely shut down the opponent's top post player night in and night out.

Warren Parisian, Box Elder

Another big reason why Box Elder was able to make its magical run this season was the play of 6-0 senior Warren Parisian. A two-time all-conference performer, Parisian was a force in the paint for the Bears this season. Parisian nearly averaged a double-double for the Bears, scoring 14 points and grabbing nine rebounds per game. He was also huge in the postseason, helping Box Elder win a 9C challenge game which got the Bears to their first divisional tournament in years.

Travis Daniels, Turner

The leading scorer in District 9C basketball this season came by way of the Turner Tornadoes. Travis Daniels was a one-man scoring machine for Turner this year, averaging a 9C-best 25 points per game. Daniels, a two-year starter for Turner earned all-conference honors for the season and had several 30-point performances this season for a much-improved and scrappy Turner squad.

Trevor Lackner, Big Sandy

With the exodus of a great senior class and a 2010 Class C state champion, things were different this year in Big Sandy. But sophomore Trevor Lackner helped lead the Pioneers to yet another successful season. Big Sandy finished second in the 9C tournament before losing to Box Elder in a challenge game, and Lackner, in his second year as a starter, had a strong campaign, leading the Pioneers in scoring and 3-point shooting, as well as finding success on defense throughout the season. Lackner also earned 9C all-conference honors.
