Harry Kent Parcell, 92, of Geneva, Ill., formerly of Huntington, W. Va., passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011, in Geneva, Ill.
He was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Huntington, the son of Otey Shelburn and Jessie (Burch) Parcell.
Harry was a graduate of the Gregg School of Short Hand Reporting in Chicago and worked his entire career as a shorthand reporter, first in Havre, Mont., and later in Kane County, Ill., and Wayne County, W.Va. He enjoyed fishing, golf and travel. He also loved attending Marshall University football games. Mr. Parcell was an Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his three children, Kent (Susie) Parcell of Yuma, Ariz., Kathy Peine of Geneva and Greg (Jan) Parcell of Geneva; nine grandchildren, Curtis (Stacey) Parcell, Bryan (Renee) Parcell, Aaron (Cassie) Parcell, Amy (Mike) Wilcox, Scott (Kelly) Peine, Zachary, Lucas, Maxx and Ethan Parcell; ten great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jack, Henry, McKenzie, Kylie and Macie Parcell, Katie, Ryan, Bailey and Hallie Wilcox. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen Farrar of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, O.W. "Rex" and James Clayton; great-grandson Nathan Parcell; and by his wife, OraLee (Meadows), who passed away in 1994.
Funeral service and interment with military honors will be held at Woodmere Memorial Park Cemetery in Huntington, W.Va., at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011.
