Dennis E. Helmbrecht, 64, died peacefully March 24, 2011, at the Care and Comfort Home in Havre.
His Vigil will be held on Sunday, March 27, at 7 p. m. at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home, with a funeral Mass at 11 a. m. on Monday, March 28., at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Havre.
Due to the Lenten season, flowers should not be in the church. Memorials in Dennis' honor may be made to St. Jude Thaddeus School, 634 6th St., Havre. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
Dennis was born June 14, 1946 in Havre, Mont. He attended St. Jude Thaddeus Elementary School and graduated from Havre Central High School in 1965. Dennis attended college at the University of Montana and graduated from Northern Montana College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education. He taught high school science at Gildford for two years and then was hired by the Great Northern Railroad and worked as a chemist in its labs in Havre, St. Paul, Minn., and Springfield, Mo. Dennis came back to Havre to assist in the care of his ailing father and worked for the Burlington Northern Railway until his disablement in 2005. Denny loved golf, his family, his faith and was a loyal friend.
He was preceded in death by his by his father, Vern Helmbrecht, and a brother, Joseph Helmbrecht.
He is survived by his mother, Toby Helmbrecht; a sister, Kathy (Gary) Enneberg; and a brother, Steve Helmbrecht; and nieces and nephews, Mark, Jason and Melissa Enneberg and Keegan, Jade and Anders Helmbrecht.
