Box Elder junior Aricka Wolf Chief led the District 9C in scoring this season. She's also already won a District 9C championship and starred in a Northern C divisional in her young career.
But as Wolf Chief and the Bears get set for another Northern C run, she has more on her mind than just scoring, Wolf Chief is a leader and one of the most solid young basketball players on the Hi-Line.
Here's four questions with the Box Elder sharp-shooter before the Bears' opening game of the Northern C in Great Falls.HDN: What is it like playing in the Northern C divisional tournament?
Wolf Chief: "This is my second year so I am much more calm this year than I was last year. But I think it is really good, especially for all the girls who get to play and didn't play last year. It is just a bigger atmosphere and it feels good to play in a place like this (Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls)."
HDN: I know you were disappointed about losing in the 9C championship game, but how well do you think you can keep playing this weekend?
Wolf Chief: "I think we can play better than we did in the (9C) championship game, we just need to play how we usually play and not give up."
HDN: What is it about basketball that you love so much?
Wolf Chief: "I love basketball just because it's fun and makes me happy to play, I just like it and it's exciting to meet new people and go to new places."
HDN: You have already found some success as a high school basketball player, but what are your ultimate goals?
Wolf Chief: "I would really like to make it to state before I graduate, that is what we are all trying to do this year. We wouldn't even have to win state, I would just like to make state and see how it feels."
