I had hoped that our friends in the local Republican Party were not going to resort to the tactics used by the national Republican party, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Instead of promoting the qualities of their candidate, they chose to use their own interpretation of campaign laws to accuse Bob Kaul of violations — even though when Mr. Kaul and the chairman of the Hill County Democrats each contacted the Political Practices Commissioner's office, and each were told that there was no violation. All of this stems from Bob not accepting any campaign contributions and planning on not raising or spending any campaign funds.
Personally, I find it refreshing to see a candidate who is running on his dedication instead of how much money he can raise. I have always respected Bob's dependability and commitment, and Bob takes his commitment to the City Council very seriously and looks at all sides of the issues very thoroughly.
Bob's opponent may have raised over a thousand dollars and will probably raise even more, but he will never be able to buy the dedication and integrity Bob Kaul brings to the City Council.

Havre City Council President
