News you can use
Editor:
I was surprised that the Havre Daily News was my first source of information about campaign mistakes in the Havre City Council Ward 3 race. Usually, the chairman of the other party and I have alerted each other at the earliest opportunity to keep simple matters simple and in perspective. If, from now on, the simple solution starts on the pages of the Daily News, so be it.
Let's call this newsworthy concern about campaign ethics what it is: Recyclegate.
While local Republicans concern themselves with Recyclegate, isn't it more important to focus on things that matter? How about discussing budget issues? Or the impact of the do-nothing Legislature on local governments? How about funding for infrastructure? Or the impact of congressional game-playing will have on Havre's Essential Air Service program? What about workplace safety? The upkeep of the city's vast park system? Or making sure our swimming pool stays open? These are all real issues that merit debate and adult conversation.
It's obvious that Democrats are focused on working together to find solutions to difficult problems in our community, while Republicans focus on recycled campaign material.
Voters in the city of Havre have a choice this November — and that choice is clear. Republicans would rather discuss recycled campaign materials and Rush Limbaugh-like "nanny state" sound bites, while Democrats look for solutions and focus on what's best for the residents or our great community.
Enough of the distractions and non-issues. Enough of Recyclegate. This November, make your vote count — vote for Bob Kaul and the Democratic Party.
