Errol Dean Shulund

, 69, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes. His memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Eagels with Ila McClenahan officiating.The family encourages everyone to share a story about Errol. Military honors will be held outside the Eagles. A fellowship luncheon will be held immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Errol's honor may be made to the Havre Youth Baseball c/o Tobey Scholtfeldt and mailed to P.O. Box 772 Havre, MT 59501 or to the Blue Pony Booster Club. Services were entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Errol was born Oct. 1, 1941, in Seattle, Wash., to Herman and Eva (Bennett) Shulund. He lived with his family in Seattle until World War II was over, and the family returned to Hamilton, Mont. In 1953, the Shulunds moved to Havre, Mont., where they started Shulund Construction. Errol attended Havre Public Schools and graduated from Havre High School in 1960. He enlisted in the United States Army and then became a member of the Army National Guard after he was honorably discharged. He married Susie Hinds in 1963, and the couple made their home in Cut Bank, Mont., where Errol worked for the state Highway Department. Together Errol and Susie raised three children. In 1971 the family moved back to Havre, where Errol worked for Shulund Construction in a partnership with his brothers. In 1980, Errol went to work for the Tri-County Sanitation Department, where he worked until he retired in 2002. After he retired, Errol drove bus for the Havre Public Schools.

Errol was an avid sports player and fan. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling and watching the Havre Blue Ponies. He was a true Green Bay Packers fan. Errol was a real man's man he had many friends. Every place Errol went he met someone new and kept them as a friend for life.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Errol is survived by his three children, Cub (Danice) Shulund of Banks, Ore., Mandi (Roy) Hinman of Helena, Mont., and Tobey Schlotfeldt of Havre, Mont .; brothers, Mel (Donna) Shulund of Havre, Mont., Arnie (Carolyn) Shulund of Havre, Mont., and Rick (Shelia) Shulund of Fort Benton, Mont .; grandchildren, Bryce, Cody and Austin Shulund; Tyson Kultgen, Cole and Jaycee Schlotfeldt; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
