Havre Pride cleanup on Saturday was a huge success. The Havre Pride Task Force of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce and the Montana Energy Corp. from Opportunity Link Inc. led the way for the fall clean-up campaign in partnership with the Recycle Hi-Line organization.
Thanks to Carrie Johnson at Opportunity Link for organizing the recycling activities for Havre Pride and to those who helped with the recycling part of the day, including Walmart and Pacific Steel and Recycling.
The turnout to help clean up Havre and recycle was awesome. Thanks to Havre High School students, the Key Club and cross-country team members and Coach Kyle Fisher for their help on Friday and Saturday. Thanks to the Lights and Coach Huse, Koefod Agency and Northern Montana Hospital who all came out to help.
And, thank you to each and every one of you who gave time to pick up many areas around town.
Havre Pride works closely with the Youth Diversion Program and we thank the group for the awesome job they did this past Saturday cleaning up the weeds around the old Post Office property.
We are thankful for all the help we had for our fall community cleanup on Saturday. It was great to see so many people out!
Thanks to the Hi-Line Board of Realtors for their generous donation to help promote the weekend. And to New Media Broadcasters and the Havre Daily News for their help with getting word out about the Havre Pride community cleanup.
A thank-you goes to the city of Havre for its help in setting up and to the MDT for trash bags and their help with keeping 1st Street and 5th Avenue swept.
Havre Pride is a community-wide effort to clean up our town. The goal is to first get the community members working together to clean up our town and second, to educate people on the subject of litter and community pride.
There are preliminary plans to look at doing a recycle day following Christmas and to try and do additional cleanup and recycle days throughout the year.
As with any project it takes many to make it work and be successful. The partnership with Recycle Hi-Line added to the importance of the weekend. The recycling efforts of the Hi-Line recycling group was a huge success.
