Charles G. Yeon

Charles "Chuck" G. Yeon, a Havre resident, died of multiple myeloma on May 12, 2011. He was 68 years old.

His graveside service will be 2 p. m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at the Calvary Section of Highland Cemetery in Havre. Kevin Barsotti will be officiating.

Burial will follow. Memorial contributions in Chuck's honor may be made to Bear Paw Hospice c/o Northern Montana Hospital, P.O. Box 1231 Havre, MT 59501.

Charles was born June 25, 1942, to Gervan and Donna (Farnsworth) Yeon. He attended St. Jude Thaddeus School and graduated from Havre Central High School in 1960. He enrolled at Northern Montana College, where he earned a certificate in electronics engineering.

He married "Bunnie" Heinrichs. They lived at St. Mary's, where Charles worked as a surveyor for the state highway department. Later he moved to Seattle, where he was employed at an electronics firm. Following a divorce, Chuck moved back to Montana, where he tried farming near Brady. After spending long, hard days working the land, Charles eventually sold his part of the small farm. He then returned to Havre. He was employed for 25 years as an electronics service technician before he retired.

A multi-talented and creative person, Charles enjoyed many hobbies and pursuits. As a licensed pilot, he sometimes flew from Brady to Big Sandy and Havre to visit family members and friends. He spent a lot of time working with computers and building various electronic motors and devices from scrap parts. He also repaired electrical equipment for relatives and friends.

He enjoyed reading. He read mystery books as well as science and math books. He even spent time studying calculus books and solving the problems involved.

As an amateur painter, his works ranged from still life, sceneries to portraits. He was such a patient man that he spent hours teaching his pet birds to perform tricks that would astonish and entertain visitors.

Charles enjoyed sharing time with friends and especially his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew James G. Yeon.

Charles is survived by his brother, Jim (Yolanda) Yeon of Havre, Mont. ; his sister, Jean (Jim) Barsotti of Big Sandy, Mont. ; six nieces and nephews; 10 great-nieces and nephews; one great-great-niece and one great-great-nephew.
