Democrats campaign at local fundraiser

The annual Hill County Democratic Party's annual fundraising dinner, now renamed the Pasma-Peck dinner in honor of Havre Democrats Jim Pasma and Ray Peck, heard candidates for local, state and national office calling for help getting into office.

U.S. Sen. Jon Tester could not attend the dinner, although his wife, Sharla, gave a speech for him at the event and called on all Democrats to keep and win back offices.

Missoula City Council member Dave Strohmaier, running for U.S. House of Representatives, gave a campaign speech, as did Pam Bucy and Jesse Laslovich, who are running for state attorney general, and Denise Juneau, running for a second term as state superintendent of public instruction.

Bonnie Parenteau, running unopposed in the race for Havre City Council in the Nov. 8 election, also spoke at the event, as did incumbent council member Bob Kaul, who is running for re-election in in the only contested race in Havre's election.
