Kevin Hugh 'Hawk' Windy Boy
Our brother, uncle and grandpa, Kevin Hugh "Hawk" Windy Boy, 57, went to meet the Creator on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, in Austin, Texas. His wake service was held on Monday, and his funeral service was 10 a. m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy, Mont. Burial with full military honors by the Rocky Boy Honor Guard was held at Rocky Boy Cemetery.
He was born July 9, 1954, in Parker School, Rocky Boy, Mont. He lived in Rocky Boy most of his life, and in his later years New Mexico before settling in Austin, Texas. He worked as a laborer at various jobs and had an art studio in New Mexico. He sold his Native American arts and crafts at his gallery. He attended Rocky Boy Schools and Flandreau Indian School before he enlisted in the U. S. Army. He was proud to serve his county and was trained as an infantryman. He enjoyed telling big stories, attending powwows and singing native songs, and he enjoyed painting and making native arts and crafts. Kevin loved the outdoors and had the ability to make people laugh. He would gather teepee poles and was always helping those who needed it.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Buffalo Child and Lucille (Little Sun) Windy Boy; his first wife and twin sons; his sister, Cella Jane Windy Boy; brother, Ivan Chester Windy Boy; grandsons, Yancey James Charette and Aaron George Windy Boy; and granddaughter, Kristie Dawn St. Pierre.
Kevin is survived by his sisters, Louise (Robert) Stump of Rocky Boy, Mont., Wendy (Dominic) Bradley of Box Elder, Mont., Eliane (Fredrick) Coffee of Rocky Boy, Mont., and Mary and Rachel Windy Boy of Rocky Boy, Mont. ; brothers, Sam Windy Boy of Rocky Boy, Mont., William Windy Boy of Ashland, Mont., Arthur Windy Boy of Rocky Boy, Mont., and Toby Zorthian of Albuquerque, N.M. ; and his sons, Aaron, Jason and Dale of Small Boy Camp, Alberta, Canada.
