Juletta Don is headed into her senior year at Havre High, and with her senior volleyball season on the horizon as well, this year looks to be a promising one.
This will be Don's fourth year of Blue Pony volleyball, and her second on the varsity squad. And while Don was a crucial component to last year's team as a junior, hopefully, she still has room to improve. A year ago Don totaled 33 blocks, enough to lead the Blue Pony squad. And with this being her varsity season, Don is looking to be even more impressive on the court as she hopes to extend her volleyball career to the collegiate ranks.
Havre Daily News/Daniel HortonHavre High senior Juletta Don spikes the ball during drills at the Blue Pony volleyball camp, Wednesday, at the Blue Pony Gymnasium. Don was one of 26 high school athletes, and one of just two seniors, to attend the camp. There were also nine middle schoolers who attended the morning sessions.
Don has also been a Blue Pony cheerleader for three years. But with the 2011 volleyball season just around the corner, her sights are set on continuing to progress and hopefully landing on the college radar after hopefully leading the Ponies to a successful season.
Here's five questions with Juletta Don as she works her way through the 2011 Blue Pony Volleyball Camp
HDN: What is the best or most fun thing about this camp?
Don: "Really just getting to know the incoming freshman and being able to work with our coach one-on-one so that we know exactly what we need to work on for the season."
HDN: Who do you look forward to facing the most this upcoming season?
Don: "Definitely Lewistown, they are so well-developed. And being able to match their skill level and compete with them really pushes us to get better."
HDN: What goals do you have for the upcoming season?
Don: "Just to get more hits in and more blocks, definitely. And team- wise, I think to just go up against Lewistown and get a win."
HDN: How important is it to start preparing for a season this early?
Don: "It's huge. If you don't come in and prepare then you are not going to be ready for the season and you are not going to be able to compete as well as you want to."
HDN: What do you like about the sport of volleyball?
Don: "I like going up and getting a kill, and I like watching the other team get crushed over it. The whole team just gets completely pumped up over that."
