The Pepsi U.S.B.C. Youth Challenge Tournament will be run the next two Sundays during league. Those wishing to participate will have to designate before league starts. All bowlers will have to bowl three lines in each division. In all cases at least two (2) bowlers per division, per league shall advance to state which is to be held in Butte, April 29-30, and May 1, at Star Lanes.
The PBA results this week were a little different with the USA challenging the World and losing. The format was 6-man teams, and individual matches, bowling only one game on the cheetah pattern. Apparently the U.S. is not as dominant as in the past.
One of Havre's finest bowlers and a former P.B.A. member was in town Monday. Shawn Copeland who competed in the Little Lanes tourney over the weekend, decided to stop in for a visit. It was good to see him and talk bowling for awhile. According to him he is only bowling once a week and a few tournaments, still averaging 230. He bowled against Jim LaBuda one of the best left-handers around with borrowed equipment and showed Jim he should be using the other hand.
Jacey McDonald, one of Havre's up-and-coming youth bowlers, who comes out and practices on Monday nights, while her dad bowls, shot a 223 game — her first 200 ever. (Not bad for an 11-year-old). Look for this lefty to accomplish big things as she progresses.
