Lights back in NAIA Top 25

With a solid home win over the University of Great Falls on Saturday night, the Montana State University-Northern men's basketball team moved back into the NAIA coaches poll this week.

The Lights (5-3, 17-7) sit at No. 25 in the NAIA heading into this weekend's home games with UM-Western and Montana Tech. The Bulldogs, who are in first place in the Frontier Conference standings, also jumped into the top 25 this week at No. 18. Carroll, Westminster and LC State also received votes this week.

Players from Montana Tech and LC State earned Frontier Player of the Week honors.

Tyree Haynie of Montana Tech was named the Frontier Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Haynie averaged 19 points and four assists per game. He hit 12 of 26 field goals and 12 of 13 free throws as the Orediggers swept Westminster and LC for the first time in school history.

Kenna Reiter of Lewis-Clark State College was named the Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Reiter averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, four assists and 1.5 steals per game for the weekend. She made 14 of 21 field goals, 2 of 2 3-point field goals and 3 of 4 free throws. Her 22 points against Montana Tech was a career high this week.
