Ice Hawks win one at state tourney

The Havre Ice Hawks hockey team made a run at the state championship this weekend, but after playing just three games, the Ice Hawk's season has come to an end.

The Ice Hawks played three games this weekend in Bozeman at the high school state hockey tournament. They entered the state tournament as the No. 6 seed with a 9-10-1 record. And after losing to Great Falls 7-3, defeating Glasgow 10-0 and then falling to Missoula 9-1, the Ice Hawks finished up their season with a 10-12-1 record under first-year head coach Tyler Boyce.

A 7-3 loss to Great Falls wasn't how the Ice Hawks wanted to start their tournament. But in a lone bright spot, forward Jon Austin earned a hat trick in the four goal loss.

Following the tough loss, the Ice Hawks bounced back against Glasgow with the 10-goal victory, extending their season for at least one more game. In the win Nate Welch, Brayden Grimson and Ned Malone all had two goals apiece. And John Stoner, Nick Howell and Danny Roe all had one goal each as well in the win.

But the tables turned once again for the Ice Hawks, as they suffered an eight-goal loss to the always tough Missoula squad. In the loss Grimson scored the lone goal for the Ice Hawks.
