Please help Eastern Montana Industries win grant

Eastern Montana Industries in Miles City, which provides vocational and rehabilitation services to people with disabilities, has been selected to participate in the Pepsi Refresh Grand Project. The project that EMI is promoting is to purchase a glass pulverizer to make glass aggregate to sell to the public. EMI will be competing with more than 340 entities for one of 10 $50,000 grants. Voting started Dec. 1 and goes through Dec. 31 and the top 10 vote-getters will be awarded a grant.

People can vote daily by signing up at http://www.refresheverything.com and searching for EMI or by using the link http://www.refresheverything.com/eastern-montana-industries. Those people who have text messaging capabilities can have an additional daily vote by texting 110778 to 73774.

Glass is a material that can be recycled indefinitely and has many uses. With the glass pulverizer, glass can be recycled for use in landscaping and construction or to reuse in bottles. The production of a ton of glass from 100 percent raw materials creates 384 pounds of mining waste. By using 50 percent recycled glass this cuts the waste by about 75 percent.

Moreover, the energy expended to produce one glass bottle can power a computer for 30 minutes or power a 100 watt bulb for four hours. Keeping glass out of the landfill will extend the life of the landfill and save on energy costs.
