Juanita Needens
Private family interment for Juanita Needens, 90-year-old long-time Buffalo resident who passed away Saturday afternoon at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be held by her family in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo. Donations in Mrs. Needens' memory may be made to the Amie Holt Care Center in care of the Adams Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams St., Buffalo.
Juanita Bernice Needens was born on Dec. 17, 1920 in Morris, Okla., to Allen and Ruby Myers. She grew up and received her schooling in Oklahoma, graduating from Wewoka High School in Wewoka, Okla., in 1939. She was married on Feb. 1, 1941, in Wewoka, to J. L. Brooks and they made their home in Maud, Okla. They left Oklahoma in 1942 and moved to the northwest where Mr. Brooks was employed by the Petty Geophysical Co. In 1951 they moved to Wyoming and in 1955 settled in Buffalo.
Mr. Brooks died suddenly in January 1965 and Juanita continued living in Buffalo. She was married on Jan. 2, 1974 in Buffalo to Bill Needens, and they made their home in Buffalo, where they raised yearlings and also ran the stockyards. They retired in 1994 and continued living in Buffalo. Mr. Needens passed away in January 2002, and Juanita continued living in Buffalo until the time of her death.
She had been a resident of the Amie Holt Care Center since September 2010. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Juanita was an avid doll collector and had dolls from all over. She was an ardent supporter of the DePaul Blue Demons and loved watching the Colorado Rockies baseball.
She is survived by one son, Allen Brooks, and his wife, Terry, of Buffalo; two daughters, Sandra Rives and her husband Dick of Arvada, Colo., and Betty Knudson of Havre, Mont. ; one brother, Grover Myers of Buffalo; one sister, Gertrude Morgan of Ballinger, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, one brother, one sister, one grandson and one daughter-in-law and one son-in-law.
