As the Havre High boys basketball team continues to improve, the Blue Ponies will take the time to honor the seniors.
Tonight is senior night, as the Central A Ponies (6-9) will host the very tough 2B Malta Mustangs at the Havre High gymnasium at 7:30.
Ryan Myers, Kade Barsotti, Corderro Strickland, Anfernee Standing Rock and Drew Kafka are all seniors this year. And with Myers, Kafka and Standing Rock starting and Barsotti and Strickland playing well off the bench, this senior group has been key to this year's success.
"We have a great group of senior this year," Havre High head coach Andy Smith said. "And I told the guys tonight (Saturday), we need to come back on Monday (tonight) and get our seniors a win at home. They have been instrumental as far as leadership and work ethic and set the tone at practice.'
"This is my first graduating class that I have had," Smith said. "And now that they are seniors we are going to do everything we can to get them a win."
In the Ponies' first game of the season, the Mustangs defeated Havre 50-47. Dane Stiles really put it to the Ponies and HHS is more than aware they have to take of him.
"We have to do a better job of limiting what he does," Smith said "He is going to score, but we just have to limit him."
Tonight, the Ponies and Mustangs will tip off at 7:30 at the HHS gymnaiusm.
