Warburton should know the House rules

Editor:

Rep. Warburton stood against citizens who had come to testify on legislation in front of the House Judiciary Committee by supporting the committee chairman, Rep. Peterson, R-Billings, in denying them a right to come to the podium and state their name and whether they were for or against a pending bill. Warburton has been a member long enough to know that the House rules and Mason's Manual gives that right to everyone wanting to participate in the hearing.

She blindly supported her chairman.

In the training session prior to the second half of this session attorneys made it clear that Warburton was wrong, as was her chairman, in denying citizens the right to address the committee. It is somewhat embarrassing when a person who is in their second term in the House doesn't know the rules nor have enough sense to not support the chairman when one is not sure of the rule.
